turning japanese with wagamama's new bento box
japanese food first arrived in australia in the swinging 60s and since then aussies have slowly been falling in love with this fantastic, fresh and incredibly flavoursome food. now with the arrival of a new bento box from wagamama, the world’s favourite noodle bar, japanese cuisine-loving aussies are about to get bent with excitement!
the word ‘bento’ means lunch in japanese and the bento box is a classic japanese lunchtime staple that can be traced back as far as the fifth century when workers used them to carry their lunch when out hunting or farming. wagamama’s version is somewhat slicker than those first used and provides the perfect office lunch alternative to standard sandwiches and salads
with one main dish served with rice, mixed salad, a side dish and miso soup, the delicious mouth-watering main options include chicken katsu curry, yasai katsu curry (vegetarian), teriyaki chicken or teriyaki beef. for side dishes, choose from healthy edamame (soy beans), a variety of gyoza (dumplings), or chilli squid. with three vegetarian options to choose from, the bento box is available at lunchtime only from monday through to thursday (some noodle bars differ, so please check www.wagamama.com.au for details). noodlers will soon be bending over backwards for wagamama’s new bento boxes with prices starting from just $14!
perfect for busy office workers looking for a yummy lunchtime fix or friends and family on the hunt for a healthy and nutritious meal, wagamama is bringing the bento style to Japanese-lovers across australia
so what are you waiting for? get bent at a wagamama noodle bar near you!
with restaurants in sydney, melbourne, canberra, brisbane and perth, the bento box launches on 6th october 2009 at all locations (excluding sydney airport)
